GPSG Graduate Student Assistant for Summer 2024 – Spring 2025


About the Appointment

The University of Pittsburgh Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) seeks a full-time (20 hours per week) Graduate Student Assistant (GSA) to assist with administration and student support for Summer 2024, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025 terms. The appointment includes a stipend currently set at $11,170 per term, a full tuition scholarship, and individual medical insurance coverage for 12 months (see the TA/TF/GSA regulations). Depending on the outcome of the budget for the next academic year, the stipend may be higher for the fall and spring terms.


The GPSG Executive Administrator should expect to spend no more than 20 hours per week, focused on GPSG throughout each term of the appointment, specific hours to be agreed upon in consultation with the officers and advisors of the GPSG. The student should be enrolled in a minimum of nine credits or the Full-Time Dissertation Study option in Fall and Spring Terms and should continue to make satisfactory academic progress towards completing their degree.


Appointment Responsibilities

  • Providing assistance and information to graduate and professional students who contact the GPSG;

  • Maintaining current and historical files on GPSG activities, budgets, correspondence, and responsibilities;

  • Creating meeting agendas and minutes, calendar of events, and services available through GPSG;

  • Assisting the GPSG VP of Communications to communicate information and announcements to graduate and professional students through available resources;

  • Chairing the elections committee;

  • Managing the leadership and service award process;

  • Supporting the officers of the GPSG as needed, and as time permits; and

  • Engaging in special projects in support of the GPSG’s mission as time permits and as endorsed by the President.
